Flyrtle 5.0 - September 19-20, 2009

Flyrtle 5.0 has came to a close as the largest Flyrtle we've had to date thanks to a big increase in out of state attendance including Pennsylvania, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Georgia, and all parts of Florida. I have to say it was one of the smoothest Flyrtles too.

The unoffical kickoff was Friday night where some people headed to the beach and others went to the track which was highlighted by a snapped timing belt. Later in the evening 15-20 people gathered for a big dinner at Fridays and later hanging out at the hotel where even the hotel parking guard hung out.

On Saturday the dyno day at HP Logic went off without a hitch and Frank even managed to change his timing belt in the parking lot, in the rain. We had 10 boosted KLs show up for the dyno with WestPalmGT taking the trophy for highest boosted power, and allmotor95pgt took the trophy for highest all motor dyno. After the dyno a local sports bar, The Brass Ring, gave us an entire room for everyone to gather and wind down from the dyno day in preparation for the big party later in the evening. The party went steady on till 4AM with plenty of poker and beer pong to entertain the masses.

The marquee event of Flyrtle, the bbq and show at Okeeheelee was blessed with a rainfree day and the best turnout yet, we got 12 boosted KLs parked in a row. How often does that happen? We also had 4 boosted 323s & a speed6 in attendance bringing the total to 17 boosted probes/Mazdas. Overall there were about 40-50 cars in attendance with people still showing up when the meet was wrapping up at 5pm.
